Accountancy Apprenticeship: Employer Guide

Did you know that there are 10 million people in the UK working in roles that require administration skills on a daily basis? Or that 97% of all employers state that business administration is critical to the effective function of their business?

Business and Administration skills are critical to the growth of the UK economy, but four in every 10 businesses say they find it a challenge to recruit suitably trained admin staff.

The Apprenticeship Programme Framework: 

As part of the framework the Apprentice will study Key Skills in Application of Number, Literacy and ICT at the appropriate level, plus Personal Thinking and Learning Skills.


The Apprentice will achieve a Certificate in Business & Administration Level 2 and Certificate in Principles of Business & Administration Level 2. Modules of study include: Manage own performance in a business environment; Improve own performance in a business environment; Work in a business environment; Communicate in a business environment.

Optional modules include: Solve business problems; Produce documents in a business environment; Prepare text from notes; Working with others; Support the organisation of an event; Support the organisation of meetings; Use electronic message systems; Use a diary system; Take minutes.

Advanced Apprenticeship:

The Apprentice will achieve a Diploma in Business & Administration Level 3 and Certificate in Principles of Business & Admin Level 3. Modules of study include: Manage own performance in a business environment; Evaluate and improve own performance in a business environment; Work in a business environment; Communicate in a business environment.

Optional units include: Solve business problems; Contribute to decision-making in a business environment; Negotiate in a business environment; Supervise a team; Administer legal files; Build case files; Manage case files; Use office equipment; Order products and services; Agree a budget; Manage budgets; Respond to change in a business environment.
