BIOME - News

Judges awarded the BIOME Silver Gilt prize in the Town Garden section

The BIOME, Wolverhampton College's garden entry into BBC Gardeners' World Live 2000 at the NEC, Birmingham (14-18 June 2000) was awarded top honours at the show in the Town Gardens section, with a Silver Gilt prize. Only missing out on the coverted Gold prize by a few points..

The BIOME attracted a lot of attention during the construction stage with several celebraties, press and television organisations visiting it.

The design of the Biome dome centred around two fundamental aspects: The prediction of the future and the aspects of pollution within town gardens.

The aim of the Biome was to educate and make people aware of the environment and perhaps not to be so dismissive in the role that they play,

Our ecosystems are fragile .... this IS the future - BEWARE!

The BIOME-Dome was developed by Darren Rudge & Wayne Pope, City of Wolverhampton College, D.Ponton and Andrew Ball, for the BBC Gardeners World Live 2000, organised by The Royal Horticultural Society
