Self-Sufficiency and Power

There is a need and desire for gardens such as the BIOME to not only be self-sufficient in terms of air and water but also in its use of power and other materials to help reduce the use of non-renewable sources.

Improvements in modern technology not only allow solar energy to be used for the life-support systems of the BIOME, but also for decorative features around the garden such as fountains and lights - linked to solar cells, the BIOME can be illuminated at night.

Our ecosystems are fragile .... this IS the future - BEWARE!

The BIOME-Dome was developed by Darren Rudge & Wayne Pope, City of Wolverhampton College, D.Ponton and Andrew Ball, for the BBC Gardeners World Live 2000, organised by The Royal Horticultural Society
