Air Recycling

Ventilator for pumping air The possible reduction in future air quality means the BIOME should be self- sufficient, with a filtered air supply or even additional oxygen to help preserve life.

One of the main objects within the structure would be a large diaphragm - pumping air around the BIOME and to selected plant life.

rare plant isolated in its own BIOMERare plants will have to be isolated further and given their own air supply and their own environment. This vision of the future suggests the idea of maximum effort with little output - the striving of human endeavor to retain what we currently take for granted.

One of the purposes of the BIOME was to make the visitor think about what we have NOW.

While some plants such as orchids were displayed in their own "BIOME's", some were displayed wearing gas masks to emphasise the dangers of toxic air.

Our ecosystems are fragile .... this IS the future - BEWARE!

The BIOME-Dome was developed by Darren Rudge & Wayne Pope, City of Wolverhampton College, D.Ponton and Andrew Ball, for the BBC Gardeners World Live 2000, organised by The Royal Horticultural Society
