There’s a brighter future for young adults

Working alongside Black Country Impact, we are hosting a series of taster sessions, designed to showcase the range of courses on offer here at City of Wolverhampton College. During the week of July 10th, you can choose to attend a number of taster events including: 

    • Media
    • Photography
    • Health & Social Care – First Aid
    • Motor Vehicle – Lean how to change a wheel and wipers in this workshop, based in our modern Motor Vehicle workshops.
    • Digital Painting
    • Computing – 3D modelling is simpler than you think! Find out what programs and materials are involved and learn how to program using raspberry pi’s.
    • Games Design – Character Design
    • Engineering – This is your chance to try your hand at general bench fitting and fabrication!
    • Early Years – Basic introduction to safeguarding children
    • Music Technology – Studio Recording
    • Sport – How fit are you? Take part in our health monitoring fitness tests and analyse your current level of fitness against the population.
    • Travel & Tourism – Could you plan a dream holiday for someone? Explore holiday destinations, how to get there and how to book in this practical, fun session
    • Uniformed Public Services – Try not to get lost in this fun navigation session that will help you improve your map reading skills.
    • Hairdressing – Learn how to brush, curl and straighten to perfection in this salon based activity
    • Beauty – Watch the experts in action and then see if you can “nail it” as a manicurist!
    • Hospitality & Catering – Find out more about the exciting world of hospitality and the job opportunities available in the Industry
    • Business – Learn about the diverse different career pathways available in the world of business
    • A Level Politics – Understanding the Real Political Situation in the UK
    • Teaching – This taster sessions will allow you the opportunity to see if this career path is what you really want and if you have the skills and qualities to meet the requirements of a teaching assistant qualification
      • Bricklaying – An Introduction to Bricklaying and Construction
        • Construction Management – An Introduction to a Career in Construction Management
          • Carpentry – Discover what a Career in Carpentry and Joinery is all about
            • Plastering – Discover what a Career in Plastering is all about
              • Painting & Decorating – Discover what a Career in Painting & Decorating is all about
                • Plumbing – An Introduction to Plumbing
                  • Electrical – An Introduction to Electrical Installation
                  • Get Ahead Programme – Working as part of a team, your challenge is to locate and rescue an injured casualty.


                These sessions are FREE if you’re aged 16 to 29 and living in the Black Country. There is no limit to the amount of sessions you can attend, so why not get a taste of as many subjects as you can.  

                To avoid disappointment, book your place as soon as possible as places are limited on some sessions! 



                This project is receiving up to £34 million of funding made up of £17 million from the European Social Fund and £17 million from the Youth Employment Initiative, plus match funding of up to £8 million from the Big Lottery Fund and funding from partners.
