Economics (AQA)
The course will develop an understanding of economic concepts and theories which will be used to analyse current issues and problems. The course aims to provide a critical understanding of the operation of the United Kingdom's economy operating in a European and world context. It will analyse the role of markets and the government in providing goods and services.
Entry Requirements
Five GCSEs at grade C or above, including English Language and Mathematics.

AS Unit 1: Markets and Market Failure 1 hr 15mins exam
The economic problem, allocation of resources in competitive markets, monopoly, production and efficiency, market failure, government intervention in the market.
AS Unit 2:The National Economy 1 hr 15mins exam
Performance of the UK economy and government policy objectives, How the Macro-economy works, main instruments of government macro-economic Policy.
A2 Unit 3: Business Economics and the Distribution of Income 2 hr exam
Theory of the firm, competitive markets, concentrated markets, the labour market, government intervention in the market.
A2 Unit 4:The National and International Economy 2 hr exam
Growth of the economy and cyclical instability, inflation and unemployment, managing the national economy, the international economy.
