History (AQA)
History involves the study of concepts, cause and effect and continuity and change. It requires the development of the skills of research, analysis and problem solving.
Entry Requirements
Students should have gained five GCSEs at grade C or above including English Language.

AS Unit 1:Tsarist Russia, 1855 – 1917 1 hr 15 mins exam
The response of an autocratic government to pressure for change, economic and social developments, political tensions at home and international relations.The impact of the First World War, the rise of the Bolsheviks and the revolutions of 1917.
AS Unit 2: Life in Nazi Germany, 1933 - 1945 1 hr 30 mins exam
Hitler and the Nazi's rise to power, ideology, invasion of Russia and total war. The impact of war on the German people.The role of propaganda, the SS and Gestapo, education and culture.
A2 Unit 3:The Making of Modern Britain 1 hr 30 mins exam
Change and continuity over approximately 50 years, post war affluence and boom, followed by an era of reaction. How issues such as economic performance, party-political reinvention and multiculturalism have changed Britain up to 2007.
A2 Unit 4: Historical Enquiry coursework
Approximately 3500 words on an analysis of a historical issue, chosen by negotiation, marked at the College and moderated by AQA.
