ECDL (version 5)
The ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) now comes in two parts ECDL Essentials and ECDL Extra. By completing all the units listed below the full ECDL qualification will be gained plus the identified additional iTq qualifications.
Entry Requirements
For entry to ECDL Eessentials (level 1) Candidates must have a basic practical knowledge of using a computer and be familiar with Windows. Upon completion of ECDL Essentials you can then progress to ECDL Extra (level 2).
Course Content
ECDL Essentials (Level 1)
The course is made up of the following 3 units:
- Security for IT Users (1 credit)
- IT Users Fundamentals (Module 2) (3 credits)
- Using Email and The Internet (Module 7) (5 credits)
On the successful completion of these units the candidate will both obtain the ECDL Essentials qualification and the Level 1 iTQ Award
ECDL Extra (Level 2)
This course is made up of the following 5 units:
- Improving Productivity Using IT (Mandatory) (4 credits)
- Word processing (4 credits)
- Spreadsheets (4 credits)
- Presentation (4 credits)
- Databases (4 credits)
On the successful completion of these units the candidate will both obtain the ECDL Extra qualification and the Level 2 iTQ Award.
Method of Assessment
All units are formally assessed except for the mandatory unit at level 2 (Improving Productivity Using IT) when scenarios are used as part of the assessment procedure.
