Numeracy Level 1 and Level 2
The course aims to give an introduction to the basic mathematical skills which are required for everyday life. It is split into Level 1 and Level 2. The Level 1 serves as a foundation for study at Level 2. The level 2 serves as a foundation to studying GCSE Maths.
You will study topics such as: working with whole numbers, percentage, fractions, decimals, ratio measurements, reading tables and charts and handling data..
Entry Requirements
No formal qualifications are required as suitability for the course will be assessed with an initial interview. You will then be advised whether level one or level two is appropriate.
Course Content
The course covers:
- Working with numbers including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
- Using maths skills to solve problems
- Comparing fractions, decimals and percentage
- Reading tables charts and graphs
- Collecting and organising data
- Finding averages and range
- Measuring length, weight and capacity
- Calculating with units of measurement
Method of Assessment
Assessment is an online test lasting 75 minutes. It is to be completed without a calculator.
