Aged between 16 and 18?
If you are aged between 16 and 18 on 31 August 2011 you will not be charged for tuition or exam fees. You may be required to provide proof of age at enrolment.
Maths and English Basic Skills programmes throughout the college are FREE (Full time ESOL courses are also FREE for 16 to 18 year olds).
All Apprenticeships for learners aged 16-18 are FREE.
In receipt of Benefit, aged 19+ ?
You can get your tuition fees paid if you are in receipt of the
following::
- Job Seekers Allowance*
- Work-Related Activity Group Employment & Support Allowance*
* In order for you to enrol you will need to produce the
following documents:
- Jobseeker’s Allowance letter (Income Based), which must state the amount of
support you receive and be dated within the last 4 weeks/or a Confirmation of
Benefit form (your signing in book is not sufficient documentation). - Employment and Support Allowance letter (Work-Related Activity Group), which must state the amount of support you receive and be dated within the last 4 weeks/or a Confirmation of Benefit form.
If a benefit requires that you should be actively seeking work it is advised that you should seek guidance before enrolling.
You must notify Customer Services staff if your circumstances change at any time during the course.
PLEASE NOTE: Tuition costs cannot be waived for non funded courses.
FREE Level 2 and Level 3 Courses
If you are not claiming any of the income based benefits listed you may still be eligible for tuition fee remission under the following circumstances:
- If you are 16 and over and enrolling on your first full level 2 programme
- If you are aged 19-24 (inclusive) and are enrolling on your first full level 3 programme. 25+ may be eligible, please check with the college for further details.
- If you are employed or a volunteer and enrolling on your first Level 2 or Level 3 (aged 19-24) programme (Workplace Learning - Please call for details).
The Level 2 and 3 entitlement are both dependent upon NVQ attainment level and the size of your current employer.
Learner Support Fund
You may also be able to get help with course fees and costs from the Learner Support Fund. All awards are dependent on the eligibility criteria and your household income. You will need to produce a number of documents as proof of your household income.
