Is this the right course for me?
The Futures Internship programme is suitable for young people with special educational needs and/or an Education Health and Care plan who have completed a Futures High Needs programme and been assessed as suitable for a 12-month work experience placement.
What will I learn?
The Futures Internship programme will enable young people to:
- Grow in confidence
- Become more independent
- Develop the skills needed to help them look for jobs as well as those they will use when they are at work
- Develops skills for independent living
What skills will I gain?
The young person will develop their employability skills and gain valuable experience by working in a local company such as a care home, garage and charity shop or art gallery.
They will also attend college one day per week to study for relevant maths, English and ICT qualifications depending on their individual ability.
How will I be assessed?
The young person will be supported throughout the internship to ensure they are meeting set targets and performing to their employer's satisfaction.
What can I do next?
Completion of the programme will enable the young person to progress to move into paid work, where available, or a volunteering role to further develop their employability skills.
What are the Entry Requirements?
To access the course the young person is required to have completed a Futures High Needs programme and been assessed as suitable for a 12-month work experience placement.
