The course aims to provide a good foundation for a professional career in engineering. The programme is delivered in conjunction with the University of Wolverhampton and successful completion can be followed by a top-up to an Honours Degree in Engineering. The course is suitable for electrical/electronic students and mechanical students as it has a blend of both. The course gives access to study at level six in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics. The courses all give access to the Institute of Mechanical Engineers.

Entry Requirements
The current model that the college uses is for students to successfully complete an HNC first. Entry will then be to the second year of the FD. This will take one year normally and will have given the student the chance to study at level six.
