HAIRDRESSING & BARBERING

Why take on an Apprentice?

As a salon owner, you need to make sure your clients are happy when they leave your salon so that they come back time and time again.

You need talented staff; trained and qualified in Hairdressing, with the right skills to suit your particular business requirements and the inspiration to provide a real and relevant contribution.

That’s where the Apprenticeship programme can help.

Apprentices learn on the job, working alongside experienced staff to gain job-specific skills. Off the job Apprentices receive training to work towards nationally recognised qualifications.

Apprentices make a contribution to a business by assisting and supporting senior members of staff in their job role from the start.

Employers are able to train Apprentices in their preferred house style throughout the training period. This means employers have a ready-made professional at the end of the Apprenticeship who can make a valuable and immediate contribution to the business.

Apprenticeships can give your staff skills and techniques that help your business go a cut above the competition.

The Apprenticeship Programme

Hairdressing Apprenticeships are flexible to suit your business needs and at City of Wolverhampton College, our dedicated Account Managers will tailor a programme to suit you. The bespoke programmes are a roll-on roll-off, while learning and assessments can take place on and off the job dependent on demand and employer resources.

Some examples of current delivery models are:

  • Day release for both theory and practical on a weekly basis.
  • Day release for theory fortnightly, with practical skills assessed in the salon by either a member of the college’s team or by an accredited member of the salon’s staff (A1 assessor).
  • All training provided in salon, with a college member of staff delivering theory and salon staff assessing practical skills.
  • All training provided by the salon, with delivery being monitored and quality Assured/monitored/reviewed by the college.

These options for training are discussed on a one-to-one basis with an Account Manager.

We are focused on raising the standard of training and development within the Hairdressing industry.
