HEALTH & SOCIAL CARE

Why take on an Apprentice?

Did you know that every nine minutes a new post is created in the Health and Social Care sector?

Or that by 2014 more than 140,000 new workers will be needed in the care industry in the West Midlands?

With the ever-changing structure and role of the health and social care service within the UK, you need to ensure your business has the talented, skilled people it needs.

That’s where the Apprenticeship programme can help.

Apprentices learn on the job, working alongside experienced staff to gain job-specific skills. Off the job Apprentices receive training to work towards nationally recognised qualifications.

Research has highlighted that employers offer Apprenticeship places because they understand the benefits that Apprentices bring to their business - increased productivity, improved competitiveness and a committed and competent work-force.

The Apprenticeship Programme

The Health & Social Care Apprenticeship is a flexible programme that accommodates many varied roles.

Apprentices receive training at college to work towards nationally recognised qualifications including:

  • Certificate in Health and Social Care
  • NVQ Health and Social Care
  • Key Skills - Communication
  • Key Skills - Numeracy

Apprentices will spend most of their time at their place of work, gaining valuable practical experience, with regular visits from our experienced assessors.

Completion of the Advanced Apprenticeship allows progression onto Higher Education in subjects like nursing or midwifery and operating department practitioner roles in the care sector or management roles in care homes.
