MANAGEMENT & TEAM LEADING

Why take on an Apprentice?

As a cross sector skill area, the development of sufficient numbers of high quality Managers and Leaders is critical to the success of business in all sectors. Latest figures show that there are over 4 million people employed in Management positions in the UK.

Good Managers and Team Leaders are essential to the success of any business, so the skills gained on this Apprenticeship are transferable and valuable and will help address the future skills needs of your organisation.

This Apprenticeship can be applied across a broad range of sectors and job roles including Shift Leader, Charge Hand, Section Leader, Team Leader, Floor Manager, Trainee Manager, Deputy Manager or Supervisor. The Apprenticeship programme will be tailored to your industry.

Apprentices learn on-the-job, working alongside experienced staff to gain job-specific skills. Off-the-job, Apprentices receive training to work towards nationally recognised qualifications.

Research has highlighted that employers offer Apprenticeship places because they understand the benefits that Apprentices bring to their business - increased productivity, improved competitiveness and a committed and competent workforce.

The Apprenticeship Programme

Those undertaking the Team Leading and Management Apprenticeship (Level 2) will be working in formal teams or groups, whether as Team Leaders/Coordinators or team members. The Apprenticeship is equally suitable for members of self-managed teams.

The Management Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3) is aimed at Supervisors and First Line Managers and is intended for those people who need to maintain and develop the effectiveness and efficiency of the operations for which they are responsible by means of: motivating and developing the people who work in the team or department, fostering effective communication and developing a sense of team/corporate identity.

Both Apprenticeships include: a knowledge based element (technical certificate), a competence based element (NVQ), transferable skills and Employment Rights and Responsibilities.

Key Skills are also an integrated part of the programme which equips Apprentices with the skills to function effectively as members of an adaptable, flexible and competitive workforce.
