Taster Sessions

Are you:

  • aged 16-29 years old?

  • not in education, employment or training?

Join our free taster days to discover the courses and careers available to you…

You will need to attend a sign up session first and then you can choose from the following tasters. Please note the different locations:

Paget Road campus

  • A Levels – Brexit what does it mean for us? An intro to A Level Politics
  • Business – ‘It all comes down to business’
  • Creative Media – TV and film, behind the camera
  • Emergency First Aid @ Work
  • Games Design – Don’t just play them, design them!
  • Music Technology – Working in a music studio
  • Performing Arts – You can sing, you can dance, you can act!
  • Science – How it impacts on us every day
  • Team Building Stretcher Challenge
  • Toxic Waste and Brain Teaser Challenge

Wellington Road campus

  • Computing – Know your threats and build a PC
  • Construction – Decorating for beginnings
  • Construction – Start to construct – intro to Construction
  • Early years – learn about the importance of health and safety in childcare
  • Sport & Public Service – How fit are you?
  • Travel – Discover worldwide destinations

Metro One campus

  • Beauty – Mini Manicure
  • Hospitality & Bakery – Skills in the kitchen and bakery

The Way Youth Zone

  • Rock Climbing @ The Way Zone

 

This taster day will give you a real feel for what college life is like and the sort of things you will do during your studies. It will give you the opportunity to take part in a range of activities across different subjects to ensure you are choosing the right course for September.

During the taster you’ll get:

  • a tour of the college facilities
  • taster activities in the subject areas your choose
  • a travel pass
  • a careers guidance meeting with our team where you can talk about your experiences and career aspirations
  • a college essentials kit and Amazon voucher on completion of the programme

What do you need to bring?

To ensure you can sign up for the programme you must bring with you:

  • National Insurance (NI) Number Card or documentation with NI number on

And one of the following:

  • Full Passport
  • Birth / Adoption Certificate
  • Residency permit
  • Marriage / Civil Partnership Certificate

And one of the following:

  • Bank statement with home address on
  • Full Driving Licence
  • HMRC correspondence
  • A letter showing your home address such as, NI letter, provisional driving licence, NHS medical card or mobile phone bill

The college canteen will be open for you to buy snacks and lunch but you can also bring a packed lunch if you prefer.
