In 2009 we opened our new sports centre at our Wellington Road Campus, and sports students are now enjoying their course in one of the most impressive sports venues in the Midlands.

The Community Sports Centre includes a state-of-the-art fitness suite with the very latest in cardiovascular and weights equipment, with a sport science/fitness testing room, dance studio, four badminton courts, sports hall and and ‘healthy options’ café.

Facilities at our £1.09 million Football Development Centre include a floodlit 3rd generation artificial grass pitch. The pitch can be used as a full sized adults’ pitch or split into three 7-a-side pitches. The facility is fully equipped with floodlights, four external changing rooms, two referees changing rooms and a physiotherapy room. We also have four external changing rooms, officials changing rooms and a grass training pitch for mini soccer games.

The centre is open to the public, and sports students are able to pick up their skills by working with real clients under the supervision of staff.

Our great links with local schools and employers mean that many students find work experience in schools to deliver coaching sessions and fitness centres.

The college also works in partnership with the city council’s sports and recreation, sports development and school sports partnership departments, enabling students to undertake realistic work placements with the council, managing sports facilities, coordinating and delivering citywide competitions and events, and providing coaching and event supervision support.
