Our new £400,000 Engineering Learning Zone on the Paget Road campus opened in 2012. Local businesses were involved in the design and purchase of the machines and workshop equipment so you can be sure that you will be learning on equipment that employers value and will be gain the skills that businesses are looking for.

Our industry-standard training facilities include lathes, CNCs and milling machines, as well as a new specialist CAD/CAM suite which includes 25 computer workstations and the latest  CAD drafting facilities, while a fluid power and maintenance zone provides the skills required to maintain a modern manufacturing plant.

In addition, our fabrication and welding workshops are equipped with 15 workstations, rolling, folding and laser cutting machines for sheet metalwork, and manual metal arc and advanced MIG and TIG welding machines.

What’s more, the Engineering Learning Zone operates as a modern manufacturing plant and incorporates Lean Systems – including improvement processes, elimination of waste and developing smarter working practices – into all its courses, something that will look great on your CV and impress employers when you are applying for jobs in the future.

Whether you want to work in the fast-lane at a quick-fit company, be a mechanic in a local garage, or have a career as a technician in a specialist dealership, the skills you gain in our Motor Vehicle Academy will get you on the road to a great career in the industry. 

Based at our Paget Road campus, the fully operational modern garage is equipped with industry-standard training facilities including an open plan mechanical workshop, state-of-the-art spray booth and paint room, newly developed room for air condition and electrical repairs, as well as a purpose-built workshop for welding.

Combine this with tutors who have worked in the industry themselves, and the opportunity to move to an apprenticeship if you find a job part-way through your course, studying here will really kick start your future career!

Our Construction Innovation Centre is the ideal place to study if you are thinking of a career in construction.

The new purpose built centre was opened in 2009 and students are now making the most of some of the best facilities in the region.

We aim to not only equip students with the skills they need to work in construction, but to also engage them in cutting edge innovation and practice, to enable them to become future leaders in the sector.

Students are able to learn their trade in a purpose-built block which boasts workshops for brickwork and electrical installation, as well as classrooms dedicated to skills such as carpentry, plumbing, painting and decorating plus, rooms dedicated for courses in ground works, access to construction and construction management, for technicians and management. Our purpose built Gas Assessment Centre and gas Training Room has a full range of open flued appliance and is capable of training up to A.C.S standards.

Facilities are currently being extended with a new 1,350m2 centre. The extension will boast a purpose built bricklaying area and industrial standard workshops and will allow the  college to offer new courses in plastering, tiling and dry wall insulation.

Polymer Training and Innovation Centre

The Polymer Training and Innovation Centre at Telford is a polymer processing training facility for blow moulding, injection moulding and vacuum forming. As well as machines such as Arberg, Engel and Demag there is PICAT, a virtual reality software training package.
