Young Film Makers Win National Award at Red Carpet Event

First Light AwardAspiring film-makers from Wolverhampton scooped a national award for their work.

"Our Wall – 3 shorts", a series of films made by more than 50 young people from across the city was named Best Mediabox Innovation at the First Light Movie Awards 2010.

The series of films were created by pupils from Green Park School, the Orchard Centre and Multi Agency Project (MAP) in All Saints and Blakenhall.

They were produced with the help of professional media producers at Mediacove Productions, a creative production arm of the City of Wolverhampton College, as part of their "Our Wall" project in 2010, which explored the barriers young people face in Wolverhampton.

The youngsters picked up their award at a red carpet event at London's Odeon Cinema, Leicester Square which was hosted by BBC's Dick and Dom and celebrated the best films made by young people.

The films were funded by Mediabox, a Department for Children, Schools and Families fund (DCSF). Find more about First Light >>
