Visas
Most students coming to us from another country outside the EU will need to apply for a Tier 4 student visa. For all students, the key elements of making a successful visa application will be:
- You have a ‘CAS’ - Certificate of Acceptance issued by the college.This will have your unique reference number listed on the CAS.
- That you must have held for a minimum of 28 days before you apply for your visa the following funds, in either your own or
your parents bank account.
- Living costs (outside of London) £5,400 (to cover your first year)
- PLUS the Balance of outstanding tuition fees £ the amount you owe the college for the first
year of your course
- also add any Pre-sessional English fees - if this is part of your offer £
You must add the living costs and the outstanding fees and this is the minimum amount of funds you must have in the bank account! These funds must stay in the account whilst your visa application is under process. Your bank statements must show the bank logo or you will be refused.
Immigration
In order to obtain entry clearance, you will need to apply to your nearest British Embassy and show the following:
- that you have been accepted for a course of study at a genuine school, college or university by having a CAS - Certificate of Acceptance of Studies. Please go to www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk where the Sponsor Register can be viewed. City of Wolverhampton College is listed as an A rated Sponsor License holder.
To comply fully with UK Immigrations you must adhere to the following:
- Ensure that you have a valid passport
- You must obtain your Tier 4 Student Visa before you travel.You can apply at your British Embassy or High Commission or online at www.ukvisas.gov.uk
- If you are a European Union (EU) or EEA National, then you do not need to apply for leave to remain in the UK but you should apply for a residence permit if you are intending to stay for longer than 3 months.
- If you are non European Union (non-EU) National, you must not seek entry as a visitor if you intend to study.
