Management & Team Leading Apprenticeship: Student Guide
This Apprenticeship can be applied across a broad range of sectors and job roles. Good managers and team leaders are essential to the success of any business, so the skills gained on this Apprenticeship are transferable and valuable.
Learning will be tailored to your industry, but it’s likely you’ll be responsible for the delivery of a service, or how other people carry out their work. You could be working as a shift leader, charge hand, section leader, team leader, floor manager, trainee manager, deputy manager, or supervisor.
On your Apprenticeship in Team Leading, you’ll learn the theories of team leading and how business works. You’ll manage your own workload; lead others; work effectively with other people; and learn how to get your point across through talking and discussion with others.
On the Advanced Apprenticeship in Management, you’ll be able to understand the theories of management, and how to source, understand, present and explain work related figures and calculations.
Depending on the focus of your job, you might learn other skills like how to allocate and check other people’s work; plan and implement change; manage a project or budget; encourage innovation; carry out operational plans; recruit staff; or develop customer service skills.
The Apprenticeship Framework
There are three main strands to an Apprenticeship, known as the Framework: a competence-based element, a technical element and a skills element. As part of the framework the Apprentice will study Key Skills in Application of Number, Literacy and ICT at the appropriate level plus Personal Thinking and Learning Skills.
Intermediate Apprenticeship: Team Leading
The Apprentice will achieve a Certificate in Team Leading Level 2 and Certificate in Team Leading Principles Level 2. Modules of study include: managing personal development; develop working relationships with colleagues; communicate information and knowledge; set objectives and provide support for team members; plan, allocate and monitor work of a team.
Advanced Apprenticeship: Management
The Apprentice will achieve a Certificate in Management Level 3 and Certificate in First Line Management Level 3. Modules of study include: management; manage personal development; develop working relationships with colleagues; communicate information and knowledge; set objectives and provide support for team members; plan, allocate and monitor work of a team; manage customer service in own area of responsibility; make effective decisions; support team members in identifying, developing and implementing new ideas; procure supplies; manage or support equality of opportunity, diversity and inclusion in own area of responsibility; manage conflict in a team; manage knowledge in own area of responsibility; lead and manage meetings; participate in meetings.
