BACK TO THE FLOOR FOR COOKERY TUTORS
Cookery tutors at City of Wolverhampton College are going back to their roots and working alongside professional chefs at Weston Park in Shifnal.
The three tutors – who teach professional cookery courses at the college’s Metro One campus in the city centre – are each spending a week working in the stately home’s Granary Grill restaurant under the guidance of Weston’s head chef Guy Day.
The sessions are part of the college’s continuing professional development scheme which ensures tutors keep up-to-date with developments in the industry.
Heath Arnfield, curriculum manager for catering at the college, said: “In order for us to teach our students the skills that employers are looking for it is important that we keep abreast of new trends and techniques used in the industry which we can then pass on to them.
“We are all really looking forward to the experience and to working alongside Guy and his team in the Granary Grill.”
In return, chefs from Weston Park will hold masterclasses for students at the college later in the year.
