BEAUTY STUDENT IN FINALS OF NATIONAL SKILLS COMPETITION
A beauty student from City of Wolverhampton College is preparing to pitch her skills against the best in the country in the final of a prestigious national competition.
Karolina Berlinska Robak, aged 25, who is studying for a Level 3 diploma in beauty therapy, has made it through to the final round of the WorldSkills UK competition after scoring one of the highest marks in a regional heat of the contest.
She will now compete against students from colleges across the country in the final which will take place during the annual Skills Show at the NEC in November.
Competitors will be required to demonstrate a full leg, eyebrow and underarm wax, lash and brow tint, French manicure, pedicure and polish, mini facial and makeup and will also be judged on their professional attitude and demeanour, interaction with clients, safe working practices and time management skills.
Beauty tutor Georgina Bradbury said: “Taking part in the WorldSkills UK competition is an opportunity for our students to showcase their skills and knowledge not only to the judges but also to the hundreds of visitors who attend the Skills Show each year.
“All of our beauty students who entered the competition worked extremely hard to prepare for the regional rounds and we are delighted that Karolina has made it through to the final.”
WorldSkills UK inspires young people and adults to be ambitious in their pursuit of skills to the highest level. The national competitions are designed to test competitors’ skills in a range of critical elements that demonstrate excellence in their chosen trade.
