CITY HOSTS MAJOR SKILLS AND APPRENTICESHIP SHOW
A giant colouring wall, Scalextric races and live cooking demonstrations are just some of the attractions on offer at a Skills and Apprenticeship Show at Wolverhampton Racecourse next Tuesday, April 4.
Over 1300 pupils from local schools will be attending the event to meet employers, find out about career opportunities in a wide range of industries, learn about jobs with training, and talk to tutors from City of Wolverhampton College about the qualifications needed for their future careers.
They will also get the chance to have a go at a range of activities to give them a taste of the skills they would learn on different college courses including wheel change, carpentry and fitness challenges, bricklaying, computer aided design, 3D animation, spray painting, computer games testing, music sequencing, neck massages, nail art and cup cake decoration.
Members of the public interested in finding out about apprenticeship vacancies with local employers are welcome to attend the event – organised by the City of Wolverhampton College, City of Wolverhampton Council and the University of Wolverhampton – at the venue from 4pm to 7pm.
Over 40 organisations will be exhibiting at the event including Aldi, Barclays, City of Wolverhampton Council, Express and Star, Grand Theatre, Lloyds Banking Group, Midland Metro, The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, University of Wolverhampton and West Midlands Police, along with the RAF, Army, Royal Navy and Army Reserves.
The Skills and Apprenticeship Show is just one of a series of free events to support local people during Residents’ Week (1-7 April). For more information visit www.residentsweek.com
