COOKERY DEMONSTRATION PRAISED BY PATIENTS
Students and staff from City of Wolverhampton College who took part in a wellbeing day for cancer patients have been praised by those who attended.
Cookery tutors and trainee chefs demonstrated how to prepare a protein-packed chicken and vegetable stir fry, and a fresh carrot and coriander soup, at a Macmillan Cancer Support physical activity and healthy lifestyles workshop at Molineux Stadium last month.
Participants said that the demonstration of different ways of cooking would motivate them to try to cook and eat healthier food, with one praising being shown how to make the soup for just 20p per portion.
Tutor Heath Arnfield, who led the demonstration, said: “Eating a healthy and balanced diet is particularly important during and after cancer treatment, and it’s good to know that our demonstration was well received and has encouraged some of those who attended to have a go at preparing the dishes at home.”
Students who took part in the event were studying for Level 2 and 3 diplomas in professional cookery – for details of the courses click here
