COURSE IN MOTION FOR STUDENT
A student from City of Wolverhampton College has designed a unique photography gadget designed to capture life in motion.
Tomasz Lenda, who is on the HNC Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, designed, programmed and built Camera on Deck (COD) to help with time lapse photography.
The wheel mounted camera moves along taking photos every few seconds to create motion time lapse sequences, and includes sensors to aid movement.
The 31-year-old said: “I have tried to do time lapse photography before and had seen some devices on tracks, but decided to build my own on wheels. The most difficult part was the programming as I had to learn how to do that first, although I did find the tiny screws really fiddly.
COD, which was built as part of a course project, has already had its first outing, and Tomasz is looking forward to using it on holiday in the future to capture some unusual footage.
The college is now recruiting for its Electronic Engineering courses starting in September. For more info visit www.wolvcoll.ac.uk/subject/construction or ring 01902 836000.
