Free porridge, waffles and fruit juice are on the breakfast menu for students turning up early for lessons at City of Wolverhampton College.

The free breakfasts – worth £1.50 – are served at the college’s Paget Road and Wellington Road campuses from 8am to 8.45am on weekdays with over 100 students regularly tucking in before their classes start.

Lauren Price, aged 18, who is studying for the Level 2 diploma in applied science at the Paget Road campus and takes advantage of the offer at least twice a week, said: “I don’t have time to eat before I leave the house in the morning so it’s good to know that I can have breakfast when I get to college. There are always good choices on offer and it really wakes me up and gets me ready for my lessons – I think it’s a great idea!”

Andrea Dill-Russell, director of student services at the college, said: “The free breakfast offer demonstrates our commitment to encouraging students to eat well and look after themselves which, in turn, will help them perform well in class and achieve their qualification.”
