FROM STUDENTS TO STYLISTS FOR HAIRDRESSING DUO

Hair Academy stylists

Two hairdressing students who gained their qualifications at City of Wolverhampton College in the summer are celebrating after getting jobs as stylists in its own training salon.

The duo – Hana Jones, aged 24, and Rukshana Khanom, 19 – have been taken on as members of staff at the college’s Academy salon after impressing managers with their hairdressing skills and enthusiasm for a career in the industry.

Hana, who achieved the Level 3 diploma in hairdressing, has been appointed as a graduate stylist, whilst Rukshana, who gained a Level 2 diploma, has been employed as an apprentice and will combine working in the salon with continuing to study for the Level 3 qualification.

Graham Thompson, manager of the salon, said: “Hana and Rukshana showed great potential throughout their training and were so committed to improving their skills and techniques that they regularly worked in the salon during evenings and holidays to gain as much experience as they could.

“I am delighted that we have been able to appoint them both to the team at the Academy salon and to give them their first jobs in the industry.”

The pair have been joined by new senior stylist Emma Barker, formerly of Ultimate Hairdressing, who will be offering appointments to clients as well as training and assessing students in the salon.

The Academy salon, at the Metro One campus in the city centre, offers a range of hairdressing services including blowdrys from £6, cuts from £10, perms from £15 and colours from £20.  To book an appointment call 01902 821321.
