Freshers' Week

A human football table, inflatable disco dome and smoothie-making bike are some of the fun attractions welcoming students to City of Wolverhampton College next week.

The annual Freshers’ Welcome Week is organised to help students settle in to college life by giving them the chance to meet staff and fellow learners, find out about financial support available including how to apply for a bus pass or sQuid meal card, and get information on discounts available at a range of local eateries and leisure attractions.

Around 1500 new students have signed up for full-time courses starting this month with a further 1000 students who were at the college last year returning to study for the next level of their qualification.

Andrea Dill-Russell, director of student services at the college, said: “Starting college is a big change for many of our new students and Freshers’ Week is a way of welcoming them to the organisation and helping them to find out about the social side of college life, as well as the range of support services and local discounts available to them.”

Organisations attending the event include Nando’s, Chiquito’s, Lucious Dessert Lounge, Air Space, Hollywood Bowl and The Way Youth Zone, as well as representatives from the police and the army.
