JOBSEEKERS IN SKILLS BOOST
Jobseekers in Wolverhampton are getting their foot on the career ladder, thanks to a special training course being run by City of Wolverhampton College.
Working in partnership with JobCentre Plus and McDonalds, the college has delivered a pre-recruitment course to give people the skills they need to work in a fast paced food outlet.
As part of the programme, participants develop health and safety and food hygiene awareness, as well as interview and customer service skills.
They also spend two days gaining work experience in McDonalds, before being interviewed for one of 40 positions available at McDonald’s across the city.
Nineteen year-old Luke Jarvis is hoping the course will give him the work experience he needs to secure a job.
He said: “I’ve just finished sixth form and have no work experience so I am hoping this course will give me that as well as the chance of as permanent job.
“The course has been really helpful. It has given me a lot more confidence when it comes to the interview and I have been able to correct some mistakes on my CV.
