Jobseekers across the city are getting on the path to success, thanks to an ongoing course serving up employment opportunities at City of Wolverhampton College.

The college is working with JobCentre Plus and McDonald’s restaurant to give people the skills they need to work in a fast paced food outlet.

Over a three day training course, students receive advice on CV writing and interview techniques, as well as health and safety and customer service skills. They then spend two days on trial shifts before being offered an interview for one of 40 jobs on offer at McDonald’s at Bentley Bridge, Wednesfield.

Keiran Weatherstone, age 23, said: “The course has built on my confidence and the skills I have learnt will help me get a job anywhere. It’s been a really good course and I have enjoyed it.”

Dillon Bates, 18, added: “If I hadn’t done this course I would still be making the same mistakes in interviews but now I know how to prepare for jobs applications.”

The pre-recruitment course gives students a guaranteed interview for the available roles at McDonald’s. It is open to unemployed people of all ages who have a positive attitude and a desire to work in a multi-national organisation with more than 1,250 restaurants in the UK.
