Freshly baked bread, cookies and pastries are selling like hot cakes at two pop up shops run by bakery students at City of Wolverhampton College.

After cooking up their wares in the on-site bakery at the Metro One campus in the city centre, the students are selling them at the college’s sites at Paget Road and Wellington Road each week.

And the delicious treats have already proved popular with fellow students, staff and members of the public with all goodies selling out at both sites in the first hour last week.

Stuart Parlor, bakery tutor at the college, said: “This is a great opportunity for our students to get valuable commercial experience by selling to real customers and for staff, students and visitors at our other campuses to get a taste of the delicious goods they have made.”

The pop up shops will be open from 11am at the Paget Road campus on Wednesdays and Wellington Road campus on Thursdays.

The students – who are studying for Level 2 and 3 qualifications in professional bakery – also run the popular Academy Bakery shop at the Metro One campus selling a wide range of freshly baked cakes, muffins, cookies, bread and pastries.  The shop is open to the public from 10am to 2pm on weekdays.
