Students from City of Wolverhampton College discovered how to put on a great festival when they were visited by an industry expert.

Around 30 Music and Performing Arts students enjoyed a talk by Caroline Davies, the Executive Producer of Birmingham’s biggest arts festival  Birmingham Weekender, on March 7.

Students learnt about the highs and lows of organising a large scale event, tried their hand at event planning, and discovered where careers the creative industries can lead.

Curriculum Manager Jo Slater said: “Caroline has had a really interesting and varied career, including working for the Birmingham Hippodrome for six years, volunteering as a Trustee for Motion House Theatre and acting as an advisor for DOINK, creative research.

“We’re delighted she can taken time out of her busy schedule to come and chat to students and give them an insight into her career.”
