Students organise music gig

Students from City of Wolverhampton College will be making some noise at the city’s Slade Rooms when they host a local band night for gig goers.

The group of students, who are all on the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Music Technology, have organised Live, Loud and Local at the Slade Rooms on June 17 as part of their course.

Acts include headliners Carbon Copy, with Support from Frantic Action, Aiden Best and Free Sun Rising

The showcase forms part of the students’ final assessment, with students promoting the event, engineering the sound and lighting as well and performing event management duties.

Lecturer Jo Slater said: “All the learners have worked really hard to put together what promises to be an exciting show.

“This event combines all the skills that they have learnt over the last two years at their classroom based in the Slade Rooms itself.  The opportunity to host their own show in the venue really prepares them for work in the industry and promotes the vocational content of their studies.”

Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. Tickets, costing £5 each, or £4 with student ID, are available from Midlands Box Office.
