STUDENTS PUT ON HEALTH FAIR FOR FELLOW LEARNERS

17th March 2018

Mental health, drug awareness and sexual health were some of the topics up for discussion at a health fair organised by students studying for a foundation degree in health and social care at City of Wolverhampton College.

A group of 20 learners, who are studying for the part-time higher education qualification, organised the fair for students at the Wellington Road campus as part of an event planning module of their course.

Around 100 students attended the event and took part in a range of activities – including pairing celebrities with the mental illness they have suffered from, defining levels of stress, and matching drugs to their street names – as well as picking up information on local and national organisations providing advice and support.

Lisa Glynn, tutor on the foundation degree, said: “The students used the team working and organisational skills that they are learning on the course to choose the theme of their stall, produce displays and develop activities to promote their health promotion message, and we were very pleased with the number of learners that attended.”
