Sports students at City of Wolverhampton College are helping people get on the road to healthy living as part of their course.

The Level 3 personal training students are honing their skills by working with several members of staff to complete a 12 week personal training programme.

Each member of staff works with a fitness consultant over a 12 week period, after having an initial fitness consultation and health check. They are set an individual action plan looking at healthy eating and exercise and come in for an hour each week to work on their cardio fitness and muscle strength.

Lecturer Chris Bhella said: “This is a great opportunity for the students to put their new skills into practice in a real, working environment, and learn how to keep clients motivated and on the programme.”

The Community Sports Centre at the Wellington Road Campus is open to members of the public. Membership costs from £12 a month and gives access to the gym, a personal trainer and fitness classes.
