TRADITIONAL DRESS AND DANCING TO CELEBRATE DIWALI

Foundation students celebrate Diwali

Students with learning disabilities who attend City of Wolverhampton College have celebrated Diwali, the Hindu festival of light.

Sixteen students who are on a foundation skills course at the Wellington Road campus dressed in traditional costumes, narrated the Diwali story, decorated lanterns and had a go at Indian dancing.

Paula Van Ommeren, high needs provision manager at the college, said: “The students embraced cultural differences by taking part in a range of activities leading up to the event and dressed in traditional clothes and used a variety of communication skills – including sign language and electronic devices – to tell the Diwali story.”
