TUCK-IN TO HAGGIS AT COLLEGE BURNS NIGHT
Haggis, ‘neeps’ and ‘tatties’ are on the menu at a traditional Burns Night supper at City of Wolverhampton College’s training restaurant later this month.
Students studying for hospitality and catering qualifications at the college’s Metro One campus in the city centre will be dishing up the tasty three-course feast in the Academy restaurant on Thursday 28 January.
Diners will start their meal with a choice of Cullen skink – a traditional Scottish haddock and potato soup – Scottish smoked salmon, or stuffed peppers with a whisky reduction, before tucking in to either traditional or vegetarian haggis served with mashed swede and potatoes, Highland fish pie, or Flying Scotsman supreme of chicken.
Guests can round off their meal with cranachan – a traditional Scottish trifle – chocolate mousse served with ginger, shortbread and candied orange peel, or carrot cake with sugar-coated almonds.
Heath Arnfield, curriculum manager for catering and hospitality at the college, said: “The Burns Night supper traditionally kicks off our programme of themed evenings which are planned and arranged by students as part of their courses and are always popular with customers.”
