Two lucky youngsters will be stepping out in style after bagging themselves custom made trainers in a competition run by City of Wolverhampton College in partnership with Dudley College.

Ismail Saleh from Dudley and Shane Lyon from Walsall scooped NIKEiD trainers after entering the competition at the National Apprenticeship Event at The ICC Birmingham on March 8.

Their names were picked at random from more than 250 entrants, all of whom had attended the event to find out more about the benefits of earning as you learn as an apprentice.

The pair will be able to customise their new footwear by choosing from a range of designs – from animal print to speckles and stripes – and mixing and matching colours of the upper, sole, laces, logo and famous Nike swoosh.

Shane, who is keen to embark on an engineering apprenticeship, said: “I was over the moon to win and I’m so grateful for the prize.”

The National Apprenticeship Event brought together thousands of young people and employers, giving them the opportunity to talk face-to-face about apprenticeships and careers available to them.
