City of Wolverhampton College Recognised for Excellence in Adult Social Care
City of Wolverhampton College has been awarded one of the highest training accolades possible in recognition of its excellent work with employers in the adult social care sector.
The college has successfully achieved both Part A of the prestigious Training Quality Standard, which covers the whole college, and Part B for sector expertise in adult social care.
The Standard, which has been developed by the Learning and Skills Council, is awarded to training organisations that put employers' needs at the heart of what they do and is a guarantee to employers that they will receive top quality training.
School Leader for Health Studies Pat Richards said: “For the college to achieve Part B of the TQS in Adult Social Care is fantastic news and not only reflects our outstanding training packages but also the effective partnerships we have with employers.
“We are always looking at ways to improve our offer to employers by bringing in new qualifications and devising individual training packages.”
Principal Ian Millard added the award was a great endorsement of the good work the college was already doing with employers.
TQS inspectors praised the comprehensive range of resources at the college, which include a simulated work environment, commenting in their report: “The level of equipment is of such as high standard that certain employers have expressed a preference for staff to attend the college rather than training being performed in the work place.”
The college works with a wide variety of stakeholders including the Sector Skills Council, Job Centre Plus, AimHigher, Black Country Partnership for Care, the Learning and Skills Council, and the Life Long Learning Network and each year delivers over 900 NVQs in Social Care across the Midlands and beyond.
The Standard requires providers of learning and development programmes to demonstrate that the training they deliver both satisfies and has a positive impact on the business of the employers with which they work.
It also offers quality assurance for employers as all training providers awarded with the standard, which was developed in consultation with over 600 employers across the country, have to ensure a high level of service delivery.
