City of Wolverhampton College recognise students hard work
Hardworking students at City of Wolverhampton College were recognised for their efforts at a special awards presentation this January.
Construction student Hannah Pettitt and Diploma student Hope Reader were presented with cheques by Principal Ian Millard after they were recommended for outstanding achievement by their tutors.
Hannah, aged 24, was put forward for the award after studying for her BTEC in Construction and HNC in Construction at the same time.
Programme Co-ordinator Khalid Hussain said: “She was one of the most committed and determined students. She has managed to cope with two courses at the same time. Her attendance on both course has been exceptional.
Hannah plans to specialise in Quantity Surveying in the future.
Eighteen-year-old Hope, who is currently in the second year of her Diploma in Society, Health and Development, was awarded for outstanding effort and improvement.
Hope, who has recently been on placement at Woodsetton Special School where she ran activities for Year 3 pupils, hopes to progress on to university before becoming a child psychologist.
She said: “I prefer college to school as the lecturers really keep you informed about what’s going on so you know exactly where you are and what you are doing.”
Principal Ian Millard said: “These students are a great example to other learners and show them that given the right encouragement and support they can do the same.”
