Wolverhampton Student prepares to Volunteer in Africa
A Wolverhampton student is preparing to fly out to Africa on a month-long expedition working with orphans and underprivileged children.
Chloe Riley, an A Level student at City of Wolverhampton College, will be spending the summer volunteering on a community project in Tanzania.
The 18-year-old, from Bilbrook, will be helping to educate and care for local children in the town of Moshi with voluntary organisation i-to-i.
She will also be spending time teaching English to adults and working on established projects run by local groups.
Chloe said: “I have always had an interest in working with children and hope that teaching in Africa will help me on my way to becoming a primary school teacher.
“The children I will be working with come from very poor backgrounds. Some are orphans or are affected by HIV, while many have never entered a classroom.
“I can’t wait to get there and help make a real difference to the lives of these young children.”
Chloe will be staying in local accommodation and use local transport to ensure that all money for her placement goes directly to the local economy.
Chloe must now raise £2,793 for the trip. To make a donation ring Chloe on 07528 766891.
