Recruitment Day Hailed A Success
A recruitment event to find bar staff for two popular music festivals has been hailed a success after hundreds of job seekers descended on City of Wolverhampton College.
The college’s Employability Team held an open day at Newhampton Arts Centre in July to recruit people to work as bar staff at the V Festival 2010 at Weston Park and the Big Chill Festival at Eastnor Castle in Herefordshire.
Applicants were asked to contact Jobcentre Plus to book a slot at the Dunkley Street campus while places were allocated by Flair Events Staffing, one of the companies contracted by the festival organisers.
Employability Manager Angela Hoyle said 314 people had turned up to apply for jobs.
She added: “We have worked with Flair since 2006 and were delighted with the response this year. There was a real mix of people in terms of age and background looking for jobs.”
Clare Peckham, from Flair Events, added: “The Employability team were worth their weight in gold and their service was second to none.”
Those appointed got free entry to the festival, camping and meal tickets.
