Community Event this Weekend

Young people in Wolverhampton can find out about the opportunities available to them at a community event this weekend.

The Boyz II Men activity day for fathers and sons takes place at City of Wolverhampton College’s Wellington Road Campus on Saturday 28 August from 9am to 5.30pm.

Families will be able to work out in the college gym and check their fitness levels, or try out the spa treatment area.

Children aged from seven to 14 can take part in coaching sessions and tournaments in both football and basketball.

Adults will be able to test their skills in badminton and table tennis tournaments.

A range of workshops have also been organised where advice will be given on business start ups, parents rights on school exclusions, guns and gangs, mental health, education and employment.

This event has been organised with a number of organisations including Wolverhampton Citizens Against Crime, NPV Football Development, City of Wolverhampton College and Slam Basketball.

Joe Jackson, spokesman for NPV Football Development said: “The event aims to bring the community of Wolverhampton together to participate in a variety of sport events and to collectively look at ways we can improve life chances for our young people, in particular our young men who have become vulnerable to crime.

“We are encouraging families to come down and enjoy what promises to be a day not to be missed!”
