Wolverhampton College Extends Provision into Worcestershire

City of Wolverhampton College has extended its Apprenticeship provision into Worcestershire after acquiring a leading Hair and Beauty training academy.

The college announced today that it has taken over Diva Hair & Beauty Academy in Worcester and will be working with local employers to offer a range of Apprenticeship programmes.

The acquisition is the college’s third in the hairdressing sector, after it purchased Telford-based training provider John Clive Training in 2008.

The new acquisition means that the college will be able to expand its award winning training programmes into Worcestershire, and help more budding stylists from across the Midlands learn their trade through an Apprenticeship.

With the support and expertise of Jo Ludlow and her existing staff at Diva, the college will work to provide local hairdressers with a flexible range of learning programmes, which can commence at any time of year and are tailored to suit business needs.

The college is one of the leading apprenticeship providers in the region and trains more than 250 Hairdressing Apprentices each year, from salons that include Toni & Guy across the West Midlands, Royston Blythe, Zaks and Nicholas Davies in Wolverhampton, Rizzo and K2 in Shropshire, VIP in Cannock, Steven Burgin salons in Lichfield and Nantwich and Lisa Shepherd’s in Kidderminster and Birmingham.

Georgina Parker, Director of Sales, Marketing & Commercial, said: “We are delighted to be extending our hairdressing training services into Worcester and look forward to working with salons in the area.  This acquisition is our third in the hairdressing sector and we will employ established strategies to raise Apprenticeship success rates and provide a first class service to our customers.

“The college has a wealth of experience in vocational training and we will be investing in the facilities and resources that the students need to complete their qualifications to the highest standards.”

The college’s impact on the Hairdressing industry was recognised this year when it achieved full accreditation of the Training Quality Standard with excellence in Hairdressing, supporting its strategy to contribute to the up-skilling of the industry and be recognised as a sector expert.
