Beauty Students Prepare to Set Sail
Beauty students from City of Wolverhampton College are preparing to set sail after scooping their dream job of working on board a luxury cruise ship.
Four students from the college will be boarding ocean liners later in the year to begin their careers as cruise ship Beauty Therapists.
Spa Therapy student Rebecca Sims, aged 18, and Holistic Therapy student Kelly Edwards, 26, are two of the students who have been offered jobs with Steiner, a company which provides staff for more than 116 luxury cruise liners all over the world.
Rebecca said: “I have been at the college for three years, and each year when Steiner came in to give a presentation about the jobs available, it made me want to apply even more. I cried when I found out I had been offered a job – now it’s all I can think about!”
Kelly said: “I have always wanted to work on a cruise ship and even applied for a job in a casino about six years ago because they sent staff on board cruise ships. I can’t wait to start and I’m really excited.”
Lecturer Lynn Marsh said: “Steiner is one of the best cruise ship spa operators in the world and to have four of our students get through the gruelling interview process is a great achievement for the college.
“Representatives from Steiner come into the college each year to talk to all our sport, beauty and hair students to give them an insight into working life on board cruise ships and this year lecturer Tina Mason took a group of students down to Southampton to be given a tour of the cruise ship ‘Eclipse’ to find out more.”
The girls will attend a 12 week Steiner Training course in London before flying out to start their careers at sea.
