New Training Centre for the
Polymer Industry Edges Closer
A new training academy for the Polymer Industry has moved a step closer to becoming a reality after a location for the centre was secured.
City of Wolverhampton College, which purchased assets of Polymer Training Limited went it went into administration last October, has announced its new Polymer Training and Innovation Centre (PTIC) is to be opened at Telford, this Spring.
The centre will be based at their Stafford Park Campus, which is being extended to house the centre, and is expected to be operational during April.
Learners from across the country were left without a training provider when the Telford-based training centre for the plastics industry went into administration in October.
City of Wolverhampton College stepped in to ensure that specialist training provision for the UK polymer industry could continue to be delivered in Telford and purchased assets of Polymer Training Limited, including a wide range of including injection moulding and blow moulding machines, all of its training materials and intellectual property.
The Learning and Skills Council showed its support to the college and the Train to Gain learners that PTL was working with, by providing funding for their qualifications to be completed.
Operations Manager Charmaine Bowers said: “The focus of PTIC is now to establish the new training centre, deliver courses and to provide a range of services to the Polymer Industry. The course calendar is being prepared and will be available in the near future.”
