PTIC Receives CIWM Accreditation

The Polymer Training and Innovation Centre (PTIC), the UK’s newest training academy for the Polymer Industry, has received accreditation from CIWM to run its Waste Awareness course.

The new training academy, based in Telford, is the only centre in the West Midlands to be delivering the course, which can help companies cut costs and go green.

The one day course is aimed at any business that produces waste and provides employees with the knowledge and information to help their company become greener and stay within the law.

One of PTIC’s Technical Advisors Graham Pickwell said: “We are delighted to have received this accreditation, which is a great endorsement of the high quality training on offer at PTIC.

“This course is applicable to almost every type of organisation and can help to significantly reduce costs – something which in today’s economic climate is crucial.

“Waste typically costs companies around 4.5% of turnover, but implementing waste reduction techniques can cut that by around 1%, as by reducing waste you not only reduce the amount you send to landfill but also your transport and skip hire costs.

“And, by minimising waste you’ll also be helping to save the environment.”

The course, which costs £170, can be delivered at your place of work, at the PTIC or at one of City of Wolverhampton College’s Wolverhampton campuses.

The first courses are due to run on May 25 and May 26 in Wolverhampton and on May 27 at the Telford centre.
