New Training Centre in Telford Officially Opens
A new training centre for the plastics industry that could create up to 12 jobs in Telford has been officially opened.

City of Wolverhampton College’s new Polymer Training and Innovation Centre (PTIC), based at its Telford Campus, was opened yesterday.
The new centre was created following the collapse of Polymer Training Limited (PTL) last year.
The college purchased assets of Polymer Training Limited, including a wide range of specialist plant machinery, training materials and intellectual property to establish the centre, ensuring Telford's reputation as a centre of excellence for the polymer industry was maintained.
The investment has already provided jobs for several of the expert technical staff from the former PTL operation, and the college has pledged to take on more in the coming months.
The centre was opened by Philip Jones, Chief Executive of the National Skills Academy Process Industries (NSAPI), who announced that the Polymer Training & Innovation Centre would be the first National Skills Academy for the Polymer Industry.

Key industry figures attended the event to get a first glimpse of the new facilities on offer at the centre, which forms part of City of Wolverhampton College’s Telford campus.
Director of the PTIC Georgina Parker said: “We are delighted to open the new centre on schedule and to have the opportunity to provide the facilities and expertise to improve the skills base on the Polymer industry, which has an important role to play in the local and national economy.”
College Principal Ian Millard said: “Employers know that if you have the right skills and qualifications you can be successful even in those most difficult times. I know this centre will make a major contribution to the polymer industry.”
