Sports Academy Launches Search for Future Stars
Recruitment is about to begin at a leading Sports Academy as it bids to discover the stars of the future.
Throughout the summer Months, City of Wolverhampton College will be hosting a series of trials for its Football and Basketball Academies.
The Academies are designed to give talented young sports people the unique opportunity to receive high quality coaching while studying towards an educational qualification.
The Basketball and Football Academies are run by ex England International Basketball star Clive Allen and former professional Football player Keith Brown respectively. Clive has coached and played extensively throughout the USA, while Keith enjoyed a long playing career and also success as a coach at semi-professional level.
The women’s football Academy operates in association with Wolverhampton Wanderers Women FC.
The Sports Academy is situated at the brand new multi-million pound Community Sports Centre based at Wellington Road Campus, which was recently opened by Wolves Chairman Steve Morgan. The Academy players will have access to state-of-the-art learning and sports facilities; including 3rd Generation floodlit Astroturf, coach education suite, sports science suite, Spa, sports hall, fitness suite and health café.
The first round of Academy trials take place at Wellington Road campus in July; Basketball is on Sunday 4th July, Football is on Saturday 17th July and Women’s Football is on Saturday 24th July. Further trials are planned throughout the summer period.
